a previous project, they surveyed people to see what their favorite painting elements in a landscape would be, then put all the elements into a painting, it was awful. and hilarious. 

so maybe contrast overall likes to what it means to design for a single client.

Great book on design: take a good look at it. It should give u many ideas on topics.
