Promoting the dialog in Design and Architecture
Architecture New Plus is a renowned source of knowledge and information for top architecture and interior designing projects across the world. And Ashwin Architects, one of the leading architecture and interior designing firms from the Silicon Valley of India, was recently profiled by Architecture New Plus.
"This is a great recognition from an international website where a few of our projects were featured along with architects from all across the world" said Mr. Ashwin A P, Principal Architect and Interior Designer at Ashwin Architects at Basavanagudi, Bangalore in Karnataka, India. "In this case, two of our projects Sharan House (Conversion of unused chicken shed into a bachelor residence) and Solomon House (Single family house) have been featured. They exemplify dedication of our professionals and their commitment to 'new thought processes'. To produce living spaces that enhance positive energies in terms of form, function, climate control, etc."
Sharan House -- Where Ashwin Architects converted an unused chicken shed into a bachelor residence. Located at Raja Farms, Bangalore, Karnataka, India, the design brief was to maintain the industrial nature of the building, complete with trusswork and sheet roofing, with construction to be kept to a minimum. They salvaged most of the elements, such as the wood pergolas from packing crates, the steel supports from scrapyards and the bathroom tiles that were "rejects" as they were not of uniform color and size.
• Area: Site Area: 5 acre farmland • Built-up Area: 800 sf
• Year: Completion: 2010
• More details: Cost of Construction: INR 300,000
Ashwin Architects' design studio is located in a recessed place and yet at the centre of Bangalore that gives them a quiet ambience. Spread over 1500 sft in split levels, their architecture and interior design studio office comprises of the design studio, the model making section, the 3D visualization section, etc.
The Ashwin Architects' team has been given full freedom to design & gain 'inspiration'. Comprising of 5 members, proficient in the field of architecture, interior designing, construction & 3D visualization, the Ashwin Architects' team is backed by a strong external team of consultants from the structural, electrical, plumbing & HVAC discipline. It allows them to transform the original design concepts to reality with minimal changes.
While both projects indicate more inclination towards design of individual residences, Ashwin Architects are also involved in design of low-rise apartment complexes, commercial office spaces and the retail sector. Their two projects featured in Architecture New Plus, Sharan House and Solomon House differs vastly in their design approach and client requirements.
Ashwin Architects was started in mid - 2003 with the express intention of Bridging the Divide that exists between people's perception of their personal spaces & the stark reality of the buildings coming up in urban jungles. Working closely with clients & involving them in the initial design process helps this architecture and interior designing team to better understand their needs. This is in turn is reciprocated by their clients who feel comfortable and provide a free hand in the design exploration.
